Discussion With Brother Paul – Jesus In the Old Testament Part 1
Show notes:
A young woman can give birth without knowing she is pregnant, a rare phenomenon known as a cryptic or stealth pregnancy. This happens in approximately 1 in 2,500 deliveries. It occurs due to irregular menstrual cycles, lack of typical pregnancy symptoms, or a retroverted uterus masking physical changes. So either a “young woman” (possibly a virgin) or a virgin. It is ambiguous. In Hezekiah’s case she was not a virgin.
The later 2nd-century CE Greek translations by Aquila, Symmachus, and Theodotion rendered the word in Isaiah 7:14 as neanis (“young woman” or “maiden”) instead of the Septuagint’s parthenos (“virgin”). The mother of Hezekiah was known as Known as Abi in 2 Kings 18:2 and Abijah in 2 Chronicles 29:1. Her name means “My father is Yahweh”. Family: Daughter of Zechariah (who may have been the witness or prophetic figure mentioned in Isaiah 8:2).Role: Wife to the ungodly King Ahaz and mother to Hezekiah, who became one of Judah’s most faithful reforming kings
