Israel’s Threats, Challenges, and Opportunities

Vision 2020:

Israel’s Threats, Challenges, and Opportunities

The following is  a report of a lecture held at Adelaide University (on 13 Nov 2019).  The speakers were Boaz Ganor and Ehud Yaari.

The two speakers are experts in their fields and knowledgeable on the Geo-politics of the Middle East. What follows are my impressions and a paraphrase of some important themes.  As I did not take notes, my  bad for any  misrepresentation.  I will contact the speakers and make them aware in case they wish to add any clarification or corrections.

The Palestinian problem

Ehud Yarri  placed his phone on the table and it immediately began to ping. The phone was being updated with news on the rocket attacks. This is what is currently happening in Israel:

A rather dramatic introduction to a lecture discussing threats.  Solutions to the Palestinian problem were discussed.  The "one state"  or "one man, one vote" option was rejected as it is inevitable that demographics would eventually create a minority Jewish nation. So  there is no chance of completely integrating Jew and Arab via the ballot box and democratic voting.  The two state solution was also rejected. Gaza is a "state-let" and is obviously geographically separated from the West Bank.  How can this entity function as an independent sovereign nation with a military? It is not politically viable, moreover, Ehud Yarri points out that corruption, patronage and dysfunction bedevils the Palestinian  modus operandi.   Ehud Yarri proposed walking away but offering help and a "strong embrace".  It is obvious that a "strong embrace" can be interpreted in many ways. A python has a strong embrace. However, I am sure that Ehud Yarri  meant it in a sympathetic fashion. His desire for real engagement and sustainable peace was (in my view) genuine.  The problem is (as he admits) that when Sharon walked away from Gaza by dismantling  all of the Israeli settlements in  2005 it ultimately  led to the current Hamas government in Gaza.  It did not lead to any detente or improved conditions for Palestinians. They are basically left stewing in their own juice in a dysfunctional enclave, supported by US subsidies.  In my opinion completely disengaging is not a solution either.  Ehud Yarri's reference to the occasional need to "mow the grass" was presumably in the context of the recent operations that resulted in retaliatory rocket attacks.   When I mow the grass at home it does not fire rockets back at me!   Suffice to say that any "solution" that perpetuates continuing low level conflict is in my view no solution.  Nobody wins.

It seems then that the Israelis are weary of trying to find a Palestinian solution.  The Palestinians are like a festering sore that will not heal.  The opinion seems to be shared by the other Arab nations in the region. Ehud Yarri succinctly stated that the Arabs do not announce policy changes "in front of the microphone".  It is obvious that there has been a shift in attitude towards Israel among many Arab nations. Yet, the Palestinian problem remains, not only in Israel but also in neighboring Jordan.  While the Arab countries are becoming more friendly non-Arab states like Turkey and Iran are becoming more hostile.

However, I for one cannot blame the Palestinians.  They have taken a leaf out of the Jewish play-book and played their "victim" status to perfection.  The Palestinians are victims.  They are the victims of their own venal leadership, victims of Geo-political strategy and victims of Zionism.  Inconvenient they might be, but they will not voluntarily disappear into that long dark night.   In many ways their defiant obstinacy matches that of the ancient Hebrews,  who God called a stubborn and stiff-necked generation.

The Israeli Election

Ehud Yarri stated that after two elections at stalemate and with a third looming his "wet dream" was that a unity government could be formed with a rotating Prime Minister Ship.  Nentanyahu could possibly take the first "turn" and delay his judicial woe by launching an appeal that could take as long as four years to reach any conclusion.

The Trump Peace

According to Ehud Yarri the Trump peace initiative would not achieve anything. Kushner  et al had been made aware of the intransigence and hopeless condition of the Palestinians.  Although Trump had gifted Israel the embassy and the Golan, those were mere gestures. His withdrawal from Syria and "back-down"  to Iran are considered disappointing and dangerous.

The Arab Spring

The other speaker, Boaz Ganor is well connected in the counter-terrorism and intelligence worlds. He has been to the White House and met political scientist and diplomat Condoleezza Rice who was the Secretary of State under George Bush. Boaz Ganor started his discourse with a reference to the title of the talk "Vision" stating that even the prophets would have difficulty with a "vision" of Israel's future.   This reminded me of Proverbs 29v.8: -

"Where there is no vision, the people perish:
but he that keepeth the law, happy is he".

The nation does not keep the law like Abraham did (Gen 26:5). Their forefather Abraham kept the whole Law before it was even given!  (LOL)  If only they knew what that meant (John 8:39).

The discussion moved onto the subject of the "Arab Spring" the result of youthful uprisings encouraged by the internet and the desire to have democratic "freedoms" like the West.  However, Boaz Ganor said that the Israeli's did not call it the "Arab Spring" but rather the "Arab Winter" because  under the Muslim Brotherhood countries like Egypt became Islamic theocracies.  President Barack Obama had signaled the change to the Muslim world in a speech called "A New Beginning"  on 4 June 2009, from the Major Reception Hall at Cairo University in Egypt.  Members of the Muslim Brotherhood "sat in the front row".   As soon as "democratic" elections were held the people voted the Brotherhood into power who proceeded to write a constitution for an Islamic theocracy based on Sharia law.  As we know, the brotherhood government  was overthrow and replaced by the military el-Sisi by a coup d'état in 2012.

At this point I questioned why, if the West believes in democracy, they ignored the will of the Egyptian people to elect an Islamic government.  Moreover, I stated that the uprisings were not spontaneous as the neoconservatives had stated that seven countries would face regime change over a five year period.  I pointed out that a hidden hand was at work in the recent Turkish coup (aligning Turkey towards Russia) and in the Saudi coup that brought MBS to power.  For good measure I asked if any WMD had been found yet in Iraq (LOL).   Of course, this drew an exchange of looks between the two speakers and provoked some dissembling but no real answers.

The question of Iran and Russia

Boaz Ganor (and Ehud Yarri) emphasized that Russia was not a super power and had a small economy.  They stressed that Israeli military action in Syria was coordinated with Russia, that Putin has a flat in Jerusalem and that Netanyahu spends a lot of time phoning and joking with Putin and flying up and back to Sochi. Russia may not be a superpower but Putin is smart and he is a player and with a million Russian Jews living in Israel he has influence.

Hezbollah operates as Iran's  proxy in Lebanon and they fired approximately 3,000 rockets at Israel over a 40 day period in 2006.  Both speakers stressed that Iran now possesses GPS guided missiles that are very accurate as the Saudi oil field attack (which they blame on Iran) has demonstrated.  Iran now has the capability to fire an overwhelming 3,000 rockets a day.   From Israel's viewpoint the situation looks grim especially with the Iranian nuclear build up and what they consider a psychopathic leadership intent on destroying the nation.

Of course, from an Iranian perspective the situation looks entirely different as they see Israel as a colonial western outpost (aberration) and because historically Iran experienced a coup  of their democratically elected government when they nationalized their oil resources they no longer trust the West. They do not  want a bar of western Neo-classical economics, Anglo-Zionist capitalism or "democracy" (who can blame them?).  The Persians (Iranians) are an ancient civilization, they are an industrious, clever people, who are hospitable and have for centuries entertained a Jewish religious community.

The question of war

Both speakers gauge that war is inevitable.  For them it is a question of determining the correct moment when a point of "no return" in the development of a nuclear arsenal is achieved by Iran.  However, the build up of conventional Iranian weaponry is also threatening.

Final public question/remark

My last question/remark evoked a response from  Ehud that still remains with me and makes me sad.  What I said to both speakers was that they neglected the "bigger picture" that the world was in transition from a uni-polar to a multi-polar system. Dollar hegemony was coming to an end as was US power and  Neo-classical economics and Anglo-Zionist capitalism was "shaking on its foundations".  Was Israel  facing an existential crisis, and would the US help?   Both speakers looked perturbed, Boaz Ganor denied that the coming crisis was existential but Ehud Yarri said..... In the end no one will help us. We are all alone.

The impending catastrophe is no reason for  schadenfreude or a case of you reap what you sow.  It is an unnecessary tragedy that haunts me and fills me with sadness.  It is the time of Jacobs trouble  caused by his deception and attempt at self-deliverance.  You cannot rule with God until you realize that God rules.  You cannot struggle with man and at the same time wrestle God.  You will be forced to make supplications with strong tears and crying. Until Jacob repents and overcomes his old nature he will have no peace or security.

Your real friends are not the Christian-Zionists who encourage your bad behavior and act as your cheer leaders.  They are false prophets.  Your real friends are those who tell you to your face that you are wrong and need to repent.  Turn back to God and accept his messiah.  The messiah is not God. Neither is he another bar Kochba.  He is Jesus the son of God and he invites you to join him in becoming sons and daughters.  This time he comes not as a "suffering servant" but as King of Kings bearing divine authority. Make sure you are not among his enemies.

I have informed both speakers and will post any response, clarifications or corrections

Interview with the Crown Prince

O'Donnell interviewed MBS for 60 minutes (see below for a brief clip):

Oil prices would likely soar to "unimaginable" highs that we "haven't seen in our lifetimes" as global supplies are disrupted.

"If the world does not take a strong and firm action to deter Iran, we will see further escalations that will threaten world interests. Oil supplies will be disrupted and oil prices will jump to unimaginably high numbers that we haven't seen in our lifetimes."

Finally, touching on the issue of a ceasefire in Yemen, MbS said Saudi Arabia is working diligently toward peace. He added that he considers the Houthi-backed ceasefire a "positive step."

Not long after, O'Donnell wrapped up the interview with a final question: "What lessons have you learned? And have you made mistakes?

"Of course I've made mistakes," MbS insisted.

"Even prophets make mistakes, so how come we,
as humans, expect not to make mistakes?"

https://www.zerohedge.com/energy/mbs-war-iran-would-send-oil-highs-we-havent-seen-our-lifetimes

Well I don't know any prophets who saw people into pieces....mind you Manasseh had the prophet Isaiah sawed in half. Perhaps it is a middle east tradition handed down by despots? (p.s. MBS is opening his country up to tourism. Book now and get your visa's to avoid the rush. Public executions are must see. No infidels allowed in Mecca or Medina. And no alcohol. And cover up. Have fun!!)

Saudi Arabia attacked

Saudi Arabia has been attacked and apparently the Houthis are taking the credit.

Houthi drone attacks on 2 Saudi Aramco oil facilities spark fires. Yemen's Houthi rebels claim attacks on facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais, vow to widen range of targets in Saudi Arabia. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/09/drones-hit-saudi-aramco-facilities-fires-190914051900472.html

Watch the following report from Aljazeera:

What is the truth?

The truth is that one way or another we will never know exactly what (or who)  lies behind this. It is perhaps coincidence that John Bolton was recently sacked, coincidence that Aramco requires higher oil prices for the upcoming IPO, coincidence that Bibi is struggling in his upcoming election, coincidence that the US and Israel are signing a mutual defense pact and coincidence that a nonpartisan institution, CSIS is the world's #1 defense & national security think tank posted a tweet four days ago that warned about this very instillation being attacked. Could this be how the NeoCons save a flailing Netanyahu and establish a next election win for Trump?

The Abqaiq oil facility was featured in this CSIS tweet only 4 days ago!"
https://twitter.com/Brasco_Aad/status/1172796042988990464

Is it a Kwinky Dink?  (Coincidence)

Perhaps I am being too cynical.   I thought that war was imminent when Australia was promised help from the US strategic reserves.  https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/australia-negotiating-with-trump-administration-to-buy-emergency-oil-supplies-20190801-p52cti.html

However, Pompeo says that Iran is behind it and as Trump has sacked the warmonger Bolton they must be speaking the truth.  They obviously do not want war.  And Pompeo who lies and cheats and steals (his words not mine) is now telling the truth:

pomp-ass-oil

pomp-ass-oil

Are ye not entertained?

Frankly, at this point it doesn't really matter "who did it".   Both Israel and the USA have demonstrated that they are determined for war.  And Saudi Arabia has been decimating Yemen and perpetrating war crimes.  So, if the Houthis have manged to strike at the Saudi's (who don't get their hands dirty but use mercenaries) good on them. Hit them where it hurts (in the pocket)....perhaps it will make the Saudi royals rethink when they have less to spend on Call Girls, drugs and yachts while exporting extreme Wahhabism all over the world.  As one comment said;

Greatest strength, greatest weakness. All the Saudi Royalty had
to do with its vast wealth is figure out a way to spread it around.
Instead, in their malice and delusion, they wanted to become an imperial power.
With less success than Italy. It could have become the Denmark of its
neighborhood. Competent, modern, instead it painted bull's eyes on its back by
exporting religious bigotry. Saudi Arabia, the last home of Idi Amin.

Moon of Alabama states that the Houthis claimed internal support from "the cooperation of honorable and free men within the Kingdom."  If true this would make the Saudi's even more paranoid than usual.    There is no love lost between MBS and some of the other royals that he ousted with a coup.  On some of the drone attack videos gunfire can be heard....perhaps dissidents staged ground support?   Also Moon of Alabama suggests that Iraq may have been a drone launch site (remember Israeli fighter jets recently attacked Iraq and the country has a Shiite majority).

Attacks On Major Saudi Oil Installations Show Urgent Need For Peace With Yemen

War, what is it good for?  huh!  (absolutely nothing?)

Well, for one thing it is good for higher oil prices.  Call me cynical but prices were projected to fall to $25 a barrel.....not anymore.

This is the Big One

This is the Big One

https://www.wsj.com/articles/saudi-oil-attack-this-is-the-big-one-11568480576

Fox news just said 80% of Saudi production has shut down and Dept. of energy head Rick Perry says he will open up the Strategic oil reserve.  Whoopee!   Higher prices for all oil producers - at least the U.S. shale industry will benefit as will the float of Aramco.  As long as the attacks are "manageable" it is win, win.  What is not to like?  Perhaps I am being too cynical.

The emerging Beast

What we are witnessing is the emergence of the Beast power in the Gulf region.  It is an allegiance between the various Arab states with Israel in charge (the Harlot).

" And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have
received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour
with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their
power and strength unto the beast " (Rev 17:12-13).

The territory of the ten kings is that spoken of in Genesis 15:

Land Covenant (Gen 15)

Land Covenant (Gen 15)

Why Israel is quietly cosying up to Gulf monarchies

"Evidence is mounting of increasingly close ties between
Israel and five of the six members of the Gulf Cooperation
Council (GCC) – none of which have formal relations with the Jewish state".

“Cooperation in different ways and at different levels isn’t
necessarily visible above the surface, but what is below the
surface is far greater than at any other period.”

"But in spite of these recent flashes of publicity, hard evidence
of Israeli ties with the Gulf states is still rare – because they
remain largely covert".

"The Israelis quietly participated in joint military exercises with UAE
forces, both in the US and in Greece, from 2016. Last year UAE military
personnel reportedly visited an Israeli airbase to review the operations
of US-made F-35 fighter jets, though this was denied by Israel.
Clandestine cooperation is believed to include Israeli intelligence
surveillance of Iran, and the sale of Israeli drones used in the war
in Yemen".

"In addition to shared contempt for Iran, the Gulf states and Israel have
been brought together by a common hostility to Islamist parties".

"The attitudes of Gulf governments have clearly changed.
But the bottom line is that Israel has failed to provide the
incentives required for the Saudis and their allies to come out
of the closet, to allow them to reconcile geopolitical logic with
popular sentiment, because it has not offered anything approaching
an acceptable deal for the Palestinians. “Everyone knows about the
rapprochement with Israel, but no one can talk about it publicly,
and no one can advocate it because there is nothing for the Palestinians
in return,” concludes an Arab analyst in Abu Dhabi. “The assumption is
that if it was going to happen openly, it would have to be in return
for something big, and it does not look as though that is going to happen."

Still don't believe me?

Well, I am not surprised that you find it hard to believe....even John was amazed (I wondered with great admiration. Rev 17:6).

How about this then;

Saudi Arabia Might Recognize Israel Because Of NEOM

As Saudi Arabia moves closer and closer to Israel, hardline Palestinian demands are losing a major supporter https://www.israeltoday.co.il/read/analysis-changing-saudi-attitudes-toward-israel/

Connecting the dots

And then there is this Bloomberg article:

The Netanyahu Show Is Finally Fizzling Out. A rocket attack. John Bolton is fired. A surveillance law fails. Sheldon Adelson calls his wife “crazy”. https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2019-09-12/the-netanyahu-show-is-finally-fizzling-out

By "his wife" the article means that the Jewish billionaire and extreme Zionist Sheldon Adelson who supports both Netanyahu's and Trump, recently turned against Bibi;

"To add reputational insult to injury, Sheldon and Miriam
Adelson, Bibi’s stalwart U.S. financial supporters, are reported by the
Israeli press to have told authorities investigating Netanyahu’s alleged
corruption that the prime minister’s wife, Sarah, is “crazy” and
“decides everything.” That will not help the PM at the polls."

As one commentator remarks;

They are trying to keep people from connecting the dots.
Trying to reverse perception after their exposure at apex.
Its the same BS with the phony fight between Mossad Jewish
Mafia-Zuckerberg and Bibi. Saw more of that today with other stuff too.
Reminiscent of the old Soros is after Israel bit. Its amazing how well
these simple productions can work. Too late for that now though.
Next it will be Bezos vs. The Intel community...lol

Dear Leader

Looks like they are getting ready to introduce us either to  "Dear Leader" or perhaps the "antichrist" or maybe they are one and the same thing?  After-all, they all seem to want total control, religious or otherwise:

  • Use algo's to mind read
  • Use algo's to data-mine
  • Use algo's to psychologically profile and manipulate
  • Introduce a global digital currency

Meet dear leader (LOL)?

Best laid plans

It seems that despite the legal shenanigans in a US-court the Grace-1 tanker has been released.

The Supreme Court in the British territory of Gibraltar has approved the release of an Iranian oil tanker that was seized last month by the United Kingdom, despite last-minute efforts by the United States to halt its release.

Clown Prince MBS

It seems that the clown prince has also been outsmarted by the Houthis and their Iranian allies. He may be called Mohammad bin Salman (son of Solomon) he is not.  Solomon was wise enough to propose cutting a baby in half to ascertain the true mother.   The clown prince ain't no Solomon even though he wants to cut people up with a bone saw.

This is what Tom Luongo has to say;

The Houthis attacked the Shaybah oilfield and refinery
complex which produces more than 1 million barrels of
oil per day. This is a direct attack on the Saudis’ ability
to function as a somewhat sustainable economic and political power.

Apparently, the Houthis now make their own drones with help from Iran (who learnt a lot from the US drones that they shot down). These drones are not sophisticated and probably per-programmed but they fly 1,000 km and hit the target (oil infrastructure). Saudi is already struggling with a deficit and this will make things worse.  Looks like they will be forced to talk peace  (and postpone fantasy land neom) - serves them right for picking on their neighbor.

The Saudis have already lost so much in their botched attempt to overthrow
Bashar al-Assad in Syria, the blockade of Qatar and to force a political
realignment in Lebanon. None of Mohammed bin Salman’s strong arm tactics
have succeeded in doing anything other than alienate more members of the Gulf
Cooperation Council and put his benefactors in Washington in very hot water,
politically.

Nuclear Weapons

In the meantime, apparently those nuclear weapons that Israel doesn't have (LOL) are leaking.
