Armenian Peace?

Armenian Peace?

I have tagged this article as the Middle East because even though this is in the Caucus region the connections with Turkey, Syria and Israel are undeniable.

Azerbaijan-and-Turkey

Azerbaijan and Turkey

Azerbaijan and Turkey are the aggressors in the war against Armenia.   Turkey is supporting   Azerbaijan because Erdogan has aspirations of creating a Caliphate and uniting the Turkic peoples similar to the Ottoman empire.  With the removal of the Christian Armenia Turkey can expand its influence all the way to the Balkans.  Israel is supporting Azerbaijan and Turkey and supplying weapons. The Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict

The Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict

This is a conflict that could have global ramifications.  Turkey is siding  with Azerbaijan and making trouble by supplying mercenaries from Syria, the same as it did when stirring up trouble in Libya.   Our last Middle East blog featured Steve R.Pieczenik where he commented on the widely held view that Ataturk was Jewish. The Dönmeh (Turkish: Dönme, Ottoman Turkish: دونمه‎) were a group of Sabbatean crypto-Jews in the Ottoman Empire who converted publicly to Islam, but retained their beliefs in secret. The movement was centered in Thessaloniki.  That probably explains the Turkish genocide against the Armenian Christians. Nearly 1.5 million Armenians died at the hands of the Ottoman Empire in 1915, during World War I.   Below are two rather good videos explaining the situation and some articles.

With the outbreak of the war between Azerbaijan and Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh), Syriana Analysis addresses the main factors of the conflict and presents a historical background that is crucial in understanding the ongoing war.

The Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict is the never-ending forgotten war after the collapse of the Soviet Union. A warlike crisis has broken out over the disputed area of Nagorno-Karabakh. In episode 580 of Cut The Clutter, Shekhar Gupta explains where the South Caucasus crisis stems from and the many factors fueling it.
