Attorney, professor, and author Noura Erakat on Trump’s “deal of the century”: a call for permanent apartheid in Palestine.

President Trump was joined by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to unveil the so-called “deal of the century” at the White House. Attorney and author Noura Erakat says Trump’s so-called “peace plan” is a con that seeks

to cement Israeli apartheid for Palestinians in the Occupied Territories.

Guest: Noura Erakat. Human rights attorney, legal scholar, Assistant Professor at Rutgers University, and author of Justice for Some: Law and in the Question of Palestine.

“The worst way to report about this plan, this apartheid plan, is to make it about the messengers, is to make it about Trump, is to make it about Netanyahu,” Erakat said.

“This is not about the brokers of peace, and whether or not they could be better. This is about a structure, and a structure of US imperialism in the Middle East, at which Israel is the cornerstone of that policy.”

Erakat continued: “What Trump has done is he has brought to a logical conclusion five decades of US foreign policy, or US imperial policy, as regards the question of Palestine.”

“Previous administrations, Obama, Clinton, Bush, Bush senior, even Carter, Reagan, Lyndon B. Johnson, Gerald Ford … all of them in succession have steadily laid the ground for groundwork for this moment that Trump can oversee.”

Blindness in Part

Many Christian- Zionists offer unwavering support to Israel in the mistaken belief that such uncritical support is equivalent to “blessing Israel”. If the Old Testament prophets had the same attitude we would have had no prophetic books! The apostle Paul says they are enemies for the Gospels sake but beloved for the sake of the fathers – so a fine balance must be struck between honest criticism and qualified “blessing”. How do you bless Israel? You preach the Gospel to them! This must be done in all humility knowing that Gentiles are an in-grafted branch….nevertheless…know this…Jesus will only return to a repentant remnant that say; “Blessed his he that cometh in the name of the Lord”

the effort to keep the opposition united "has proven

Why Trump now wants talks with Iran[3]

The great Bilderberg secret of 2019 had to do with why, suddenly, the Trump administration has decided that it wants to talk to Iran “with no preconditions”.

It all has to do with the Strait of Hormuz. Blocking the Strait could cut off oil and gas from Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Iran – 20% of the world’s oil. There has been some debate on whether this could occur – whether the US Fifth Fleet, which is stationed nearby, could stop Tehran doing this and if Iran, which has anti-ship missiles on its territory along the northern border of the Persian Gulf, would go that far.

An American source said a series of studies hit President Trump’s desk and caused panic in Washington. These showed that in the case of the Strait of Hormuz being shut down, whatever the reason, Iran has the power to hammer the world financial system, by causing global trade in derivatives to be blown apart.

The Bank for International Settlements said last year that the “notional amount outstanding for derivatives contracts” was $542 trillion, although the gross market value was put at just $12.7 trillion. Others suggest it is $1.2 quadrillion or more.

Peace Progress?[4]

Netanyahu: Sunni Arab states ‘moving faster’ than the Palestinians on peace. In comments made last month but broadcast Monday, PM tells US Jewish leaders that some in region see Israel as an ‘indispensable ally in standing up to Iranian aggression’. Netanyahu reversed what for decades has been the traditional expectation of the sequencing of peace, saying that it was likelier that the Sunni Arab states would lead the Palestinians to peace with Israel, and not the other way around.

Three Frog Spirits

The deal of the next century [1]

Asked about the deal of the century, Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat told Israeli Reshet Bet radio program, “Now it is the deal of the next century.” Aaron David Mille: Former State Department Middle East analyst, adviser and negotiator in Republican and Democratic Administrations and a CNN Global Affairs analyst. Aaron David Miller concurs:

If you think Trump intervened in the run-up to the April 9
Israeli elections to help Netanyahu, buckle your seat belts.
You ain’t seen nothing yet. It started with today’s announcement
that Bolton and the Israeli and Russian NSAs will meet next month
in Jerusalem.

That was the announcement yesterday from the White House Press Secretary of a meeting of US, Russian, and Israeli National Security advisers in Jerusalem next month. Netanyahu took credit for this idea, yet another appeal to his constituents to give him a fifth term. Netanyahu also says that he and Trump have a lot to do yet: strengthening the settlement project. He means Trump will support annexation

Trilateral meeting[2]

US National Security Advisor John Bolton and Russian counterpart Nikolay Patrushev expected to discuss Syria, Iran with Meir Ben-Shabbat next month. “In June, United States National Security Adviser Ambassador John Bolton, Israeli National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat, and Russian Secretary of the Security Council Nikolay Patrushev will meet in Jerusalem, Israel, to discuss regional security issues,” the White House press secretary said in a statement issued minutes before the Knesset voted to disband and to set new elections for September 17.

Unprecedented [3]

Unprecedented’ US-Israeli-Russian security meeting to be held in Jerusalem. The three countries’ national security advisers will discuss regional security issues with a focus on Iran’s entrenchment in Syria. PM Netanyahu: A meeting like has never taken place before in Israel. Never.” Jerusalem will host next month an unprecedented trilateral meeting of top security officials from Israel, Russia and the US, the White House announced on Wednesday.

China, Russia and Palestine boycott “Deal of the Century” conference

Beijing and Moscow will ‘boycott’ the meeting being organized as part of backchannel Palestine-Israel peace plan.[1] Chinese Ambassador to Palestine Guo Wei said his country, along with Russia, would not participate in a US-sponsored meeting in Manama slated for June 25 and 26, according to Palestine’s WAFA news agency. Wei reportedly made the remarks at a meeting in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah with Nabil Shaath, a top adviser to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Wei was quoted as saying;

"Boycotting the Bahrain conference comes within the framework
of a bilateral Russian-Chinese agreement not to participate in it"

"In support of the Palestinian cause and people, including their right
to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state
of Palestine within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital".

Early last week, the US announced plans to hold a landmark conference in Manama, where Trump administration officials are expected to unveil economic aspects of the “Deal of the Century”, a US backchannel Palestine-Israel peace plan, the terms of which have yet to be made public. The Manama meeting will reportedly be chaired by Jared Kushner, US President Donald Trump’s senior adviser and son-in-law, and Jason Greenblatt, Trump’s Middle East envoy.

Along with host Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have both announced their intention to send representatives to the event. The meeting is expected to be attended by a host of finance officials and business leaders from several countries. The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), for its part, says it was never consulted about the planned meeting and has stated its refusal to take part in the event.

Last week, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said the meeting would not address the core political issues of the conflict: final borders, the status of Jerusalem, or the fate of Palestinian refugees. He stated:

"Any solution to the conflict in Palestine must be political ...
and based on ending the occupation,"

Ever since Trump’s controversial decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in late 2017, the Palestinian leadership has rejected all US peacemaking efforts. At the same time Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas commented Monday, lashing out specifically at the White House-backed Bahrain conference for the first time. Abbas said:

"Trump’s ‘deal of the century’ will go to hell, as will the economic
workshop in Bahrain that the Americans intend to hold and present illusions".[2]

And interestingly, it’s none other that President Trump’s own son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner who will chair the summit. Al Jazeera reports:

Early last week, the US announced plans to hold a landmark conference in Manama, where Trump administration officials are expected to unveil economic aspects of the “Deal of the Century”, a US backchannel Palestine-Israel peace plan, the terms of which have yet to be made public.
