Chimps and Kids exchange blood
Frankenstein has nothing on these doctors. Hooking up kids who are in a coma (because of liver failure) directly to a chimp. It is called cross circulation. I did not even think that was possible but apparently if the monkey has the same blood type in can be done.
So many diseases are related to non-human primates (monkey diseases). AIDS, SV40, RSV and monkeypox. Are we surprised with many vaccines being cultured in monkey tissue? The articles below feature in the stream:

Visna Virus-Induced Fusion of Continuous Simian Kidney Cells Care and management of a chimpanzee after cross-circulation with a hepatitis patient
Atlanta Regional Red Cross Blood Center; Emory University School Of Medicine, Department of Medicine; and the Yerkes Regional Primate Center Of Emory University. Atlanta. Ga. In the course of a survey of the incidence of Australia antigen and antibody in this area, 956 patients. 5,000 normal blood donors and 121 nonhuman primates from the Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center were tested using a slight modification of the micro Ouchter- lony technique as described by PRINCE 15]. Our interest in testing primates arose when our laboratory tested the serum of a child with fulminating hepatitis who was treated by cross-circulation between her circulatory system and that of a healthy chimpanzee of the same blood type. We found that Australia antigen was present in the child’s serum during the treatment but not before cross-circulation or several days after. The serum of the chimpanzee was found to be positive one year before the cross-circulation and 18 months later. although the animal had no clinical illness. This case is to be reported in detail [2, 4].
The Journal of Pediatrics Volume 82, Issue 4, April 1973, Pages 591-597 Two children in profound hepatic coma underwent cross circulation with chimpanzees following unsatisfactory response to conventional medical management and multiple exchange transfusions. One patient awoke dramatically five hours after completion of the procedure and remained conscious and alert altert for 20 days. Biochemical and coagulation derangements were transiently improved, but significant hepatic regeneration did not occur. Further investigation in providing temporary support for such patients with fulminant hepatic failure is necessary.
Visna virus-induced fusion of continuous simian kidney cells
Marilyn J. August & D. H. Harter Published: June 1974 Syncytium formation was observed in four continuous monkey kidney cell lines (BS-C-1, VERO, LLC, MK2 and CV-1) after inoculation with visna virus at high multiplicity. Visna virus-induced cell fusion occurred most rapidly and extensively in BS-C-1 and VERO cells; it was least prominent in CV-1 cells. No evidence of significant visna virus multiplication was detected in any of the four monkey kidney cell lines. BS-C-1 cells were successfully used as an indicator cell line in a visna virus plaque assay.
