Understanding Noahide Laws (for Christians)

What are the “Noahide Laws”, and where do they really come from? Find out in this class as we take a deep dive into the poorly-understood Noahide Laws and dispel the many myths and misconceptions about them. Plus: understanding the relationship between Judaism and Christianity, the “Oral Torah”, and the global Jewish organization Chabad; demystifying gematria (Jewish numerology), and exploring the role of Jews in the founding of America. This class was delivered back in July of 2025 at the Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center. This is a yearly event started by Rev. George Balasko to promote interfaith dialogue and help Christians learn more about Jews. Past speakers have included Rabbi Benjamin Blech and Professor Lawrence H. Schiffman. 

Debunk of Noahide Laws

Esau was a Full Jew not a Gentile. He was the father of the Edomites. Herod the great the Edomite REBUILT YOUR TEMPLE. He intermarried with your priestly aristocracy. God said that he hated Esau because the Edomite Herod and his dynasty committed adultery and murdered John the Baptist for pointing out his indiscretions. The prophet Malachi foretold this: “I hated Esau” (Mal1:3) for his violence (Mal 2:16) he murdered Mariamne his wife, he murdered his sons, he murdered his in-laws, he slaughtered the innocents in Bethlehem (Matt 2:16-18) and he left instructions for a massacre when he died (Jos. Antiq. 17.6.5) John the Baptist was beheaded by Herod Antipas. John the Baptist publicly condemned Herod Antipas for committing both adultery and unlawful marriage (Mal 3:5 a swift witness against adulterers). The EDOMITE JEW rebuilt your temple: “Edom said, we are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places” (Mal 1:4). But the temple was cleansed of the money changers by Jesus: “The Lord shall come suddenly to his temple” (Mal 3:1, John 2:13-21) Because they turned his Father’s house into a house of merchandise effectively robbing God: “Will a man rob God?” (Mal 3:8, John 2:16). John the Baptist was the forerunner (Elijah) and he quoted Malachi because the Priestly class was corrupt (see Luke 1:17,77,78,79 and Matt 3:9-12). The ruling class rejected John just as they would reject Jesus. Therefore …”They (Edom) shall build…but I will throw down” (Mal 1:4) and it was thrown down as Jesus predicted. So, Edom/Esau was a Jew (not a Gentile) and Jacob deceived him and tricked him out of his birthright which Esau the “RED MAN” treated with indifference. Yet you allowed the Edomite RED SHIELD (Rothschild) to BUILD YOUR NATION and refused God who promised to be Abraham’s shield and very great reward (Gen 15:1). You rely on the shield of Edom.

You mention Jeremiah and the Covenant but neglect to mention the NEW COVENANT first prophesied by the prophet Jeremiah (Jer.31:31-34). It foretells a future, unbreakable relationship between God and His people, characterized by internal transformation, universal knowledge of God, and complete forgiveness. Not one by LAW because it would be written in the inward parts inscribed directly on the heart and not taught by the precepts of men (Isa 29:10-14). The covenant was not annulled it was fulfilled in Christ and the wicked (both Jew and Gentile) will have no place in the covenant. God will not be mocked. You refer to Joshua 1v8 that says, “only then will you succeed and prosper” and the other citation refers to “a wise and discerning people” (Deut. 4: 5-6). Are you wise and discerning? God does not think so. He removed you from the land twice and will do so again. A “foolish nation” (Rom 10:19) or if you prefer the Tanach: “I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. To a nation that did not call My name, I said, ‘Here I am! Here I am!’ All day long I have held out My hands to an obstinate people who walk in the wrong path, who follow their own imaginations” (Isaiah 65:1-2). You blew it, but with God there is always a way back because he is full of grace and mercy.

Adam could not obey the one law that he was given and you could not obey the Law that you were given. You went astray even when Moses was receiving the law and you have been disobedient ever since. Yet your forefather Abraham obeyed the whole law: “because Abraham obeyed me and did everything, I required of him, keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions.” (Gen 26:5). How did Abraham obey the law 430 years before it was even given? He obeyed the law because he believed God and was even willing to sacrifice his son…. he believed the messianic promise that his descendant would come through the promised seed of Isaac, who God demanded that he sacrifice. The first use of the word Torah is in this verse (Gen 26:5) and the sixty-sixth time the word is employed is in 2 Sam 7:19 concerning David receiving the Messianic promise regarding man. Abraham’s faith in the messianic promise and his unflinching obedience to that covenant was counted as righteousness. It was counted as the complete fulfillment of all your mitzvot.

Hanukkah is about the re-dedication of the temple. The date for the re-dedication after the desecration of Antiochus Epiphanes was the date of the blessing given in Haggai (2:19-20). The birth of John the Baptist was announced to his father who was a priest doing service during Hanukkah (the feast of Lights), John the Baptist: “The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light “(John 1:7-8 ). John the Baptist was the forerunner-Elijah figure come to prepare the way to rededicate the new temple (Jesus Christ).

Yes, the contribution of the Jews is wonderful. They shaped the modern era. What would we do without Karl Marx (Communism) Einstein, Oppenheimer and Teller (Nuclear weapons and Hydrogen bombs), Sigmund Freud, (Psycho babel),Joshua Lederberg et al (bio-weapons and Artificial intelligence). What would we do without the money power and debt? The dumb goy would be lost. One of the great abolitionists was Jewish (the irony) because Jewish plantation owners in the South were the most prolific slave owners and deeply involved with the transportation and financing of the slave trade.

You say: “Jesus was a Jew, living in Judea, who never intended to start a new religion. He said he came “for the lost sheep of Israel”, and it was only his disciples after him that attempted to spread God’s word to the gentiles”. I suppose when Jesus said (in John 10:16), “I have other sheep that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice”. That is “one of those additions” as is the healing of the Syrophoenician woman’s daughter (done for the benefit of his disciples). The whole earth will be blessed by Abraham’s descendant which is the messiah Jesus Christ.

S.G.F. Brandon’s Jesus and the Zealots (1967) argues that Jesus was politically aligned with the Zealots in the movement to overthrow Roman rule in Judaea. This is utter nonsense a made clear in multiple Gospel passages where Jesus’ instructed his disciples not to fight. Orthodox Rabbi Harvey Falk argues that Jesus of Nazareth was a Torah-observant Pharisee who actively aligned with the lenient, compassionate teachings of the School of Hillel (Bet Hillel). Also not true as Jesus repeatedly condemned the Pharisees “Woe unto you, Pharisees” (most famously recorded in Matthew 23). This is supposedly insider critique directed specifically at the School of Shammai (Bet Shammai), who held political control of the Sanhedrin during Jesus’ lifetime. The word Pharisee comes from the Hebrew word Perushim (פְּרוּשִׁים), which literally means “the separated ones.” Jesus was not separate from sinners as he bore our nature (Heb. 2:14) and even refused to be called good (Mark 10:18, Lk 18:19). Jesus often acted in a manner that would have made him ritually impure to both Pharisaic schools as he was a true radical in his teaching and his actions. Rabbi Yakov Emden suggested that Jesus was a righteous Jew whose primary mission was to bring monotheism and morality to the Gentile world, not to start a new religion to replace Judaism. Once again wrong because Christianity is not a new religion it is the natural outworking of the covenant promises that Judaism failed to recognise. Jesus was a Jew and no doubt socially and politically aware but he was not a Zealot or a Pharisee or the founder of a new religion. He was the Son of God and the fulfilment of the covenant promises.

The Talmud codified in Babylon is NOT the Torah. Zechariah warned that wickedness would be set up in Babylon (Shinar in Zech 5:11) after the house (temple) was cursed for robbing and swearing falsely. Christians do not need Noahide laws or the Law of Moses as they have the perfect law of Liberty (James 1:25).

Acts15 had the particular context of ritual purity to foster harmony between Jewish and Gentile Christians. Jews adhered to Kosher food laws and meat purchased at the market was often dedicated to pagan gods and slaughtered in a ritually impure manner. Paul followed a policy of don’t ask don’t tell (1 Cor 10:25-27). Just buy the meat and give thanks to God. However, if someone explicitly points out, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” Paul says to abstain—not because the meat itself is defiled, but out of love and respect for the other person’s conscience. Fornication (porneia) also had ritual implications as many pagan temples were associated with sexual practices and ritual prostitution (such as the Temple of Aphrodite in Corinth). Acts 15 was primarily a boundary-setting measure meant to promote table fellowship and unity between Jewish and Gentile believers in the early church. In contrast the Noahide laws are derived from Jewish Rabbinic tradition. The four decrees in Acts 15 are largely drawn from the holiness codes in Leviticus 17 and 18, which historically applied to both native Israelites and foreigners living in the land of Israel they are not Talmudic or Rabbinic prohibitions such as eating a limb from a live animal which to my knowledge is not practiced anywhere and is abhorrent. Moreover, Christians do not need Rabbinical courts of justice whose definitions of what constitutes idolatry can (and will) shift.

There are 613 Mitzvot (divine commandments or religious duties outlined in the Torah) and the reverse is 316 the value of the Greek word flesh (sarx) as in “And the Word (Logos) became flesh” (John 1:1) and that Word is Jesus who in your Talmud is called Yeshu (ישו) standard 316 ordinal 37 (=wisdom). Moreover 613+316+361=1290 the “days” in Dan 12:11:“From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days”. The number 1290 has the palindrome 3333. The Law with all its ordinances was nailed to the cross (Col 2:4) and abolished and demonstrated on this singular occasion to be lacking, and therefore fulfilled by the Messiah and by all who associate with his flesh (which is completely subject to the Father: “Jesus said to them, ‘Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.'” John 6:53). Incidentally, the first fulfillment of Dan 12:11 was in the Seleucid period by the Antichrist Antiochus Epiphanes (god manifest) with his desecration of the temple and the last desecration of the “true temple” will be your digital golem (Artificial Intelligence) which will attempt to change the image of God (his true temple) from emet (covenant truth) thereby delivering (mut) death with its elevation of the carnal mind of flesh that has not been transformed to the mind of Christ (316). The curse of the Law that you cannot keep has been reversed (613/316) and lifted by your Messiah whose “flesh” (316) was completely subservient to the Father and whom you still refuse, just as you refused Moses (Acts 7:35).

Your Rabbinic hero Ramban (Maimonides) was wrong. You have constantly elevated and exalted the vulgar (Dan 11:14) from the false Messiah Bar Kochba who destroyed your nation and was proclaimed by Rabbi Akiva to the false Messiah Sabbatai Zevi and his “reincarnation” Jacob Franks. Truly an obstinate and rebellious nation who murdered the prophets and rejected the messiah. You don’t understand your Torah and refuse correction and like your forefather Jacob (the deceiver) you will have to overcame your old nature with weeping and supplication. There is no such thing as Judaeo-Christianity, for as Jeremiah makes clear the old is disappearing and fulfilled and replaced with the New Covenant. The time will come when Gentiles grab hold of the garments of a Jew..,

“This is what the LORD Almighty says: “In those days ten people from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, ‘Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.’”[=Immanuel]” (Zech 8:23).

That “Jew” is Jesus Christ or the Immanuel (God with us) who is the one promised in the Immanuel prophecy and the “ten nations” are the ten nations enumerated in Genesis 15 when God made the land covenant with Abraham. It is NOT your “Abraham Accords” for the ten toes of your false kingdom will be ground to dust by the stone cut without hands(Dan 2:34). The one the builders rejected (Ps 118:22, Mk. 12:1-11).
