A group of 11,000 scientists has demanded urgent climate action and &#8220;shock horror&#8221; population control.\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/bioscience\/advance-article\/doi\/10.1093\/biosci\/biz088\/5610806\">World Scientists\u2019 Warning of a Climate Emergency\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Analysis<\/h2>\n<p>This is of course propaganda and PR and we could dismiss it out of hand.\u00a0 That would be unfair because a number of valid points are made.\u00a0 Bloomberg refers to the article as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloombergquint.com\/business\/scientists-call-for-population-control-in-mass-climate-alarm Copyright \u00a9 BloombergQuint\">Earth Needs Fewer People to Beat the Climate Crisis<\/a>. The Hedge has an even more alarmist headline when it says; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/health\/11000-experts-make-modest-proposal-end-global-warming-just-kill-billions-people\">11,000 Experts Propose Final Solution To Global Warming: Just Kill Billions Of People<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Some 11,000 scientists call for population control in mass climate alarm <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7L2cD3tK6e\">https:\/\/t.co\/7L2cD3tK6e<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Fv7br3iAU7\">pic.twitter.com\/Fv7br3iAU7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bloomberg Economics (@economics) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/economics\/status\/1191763423354335233?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 5, <\/a><\/p>\n<p>2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These headlines are an exaggeration although the article does summarize the following under the heading <strong>Population<\/strong>;\u00a0 <em>&#8220;Still increasing by roughly 80 million people per year, or more than 200,000 per day, the world population must be stabilized\u2014and, ideally, gradually reduced\u2014within a framework that ensures social integrity&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Population Reduction<\/h2>\n<p>Many countries in the Western world including Japan and China face an aging population.\u00a0 Fertility rates have plateaued and are going down.\u00a0\u00a0 The future will see more adult diapers (nappies) than baby diapers.\u00a0\u00a0 The population of Africa is growing and this (surprisingly) is linked with poverty, poor health and lack of education.\u00a0 Wealthier nations have less children.\u00a0 To lift Africa out of poverty would require <strong>more fossil fuels not less. \u00a0 <\/strong>Africa needs to follow the development path of China.\u00a0\u00a0 However, China attempted population control which has resulted in a <strong>shortage of females<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 It also resulted in &#8220;dying rooms&#8221; for female babies and forced abortions.\u00a0 Eugenics and proscribed population control does not have a good record.<\/p>\n<h2>Natural Climate Change<\/h2>\n<p>As we have stated before, the earth is undergoing <strong>natural climate change.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong> The solar system\u00a0 travels through space and encounters different conditions in our &#8220;electric universe&#8221;.\u00a0 Our sun is experiencing a maunder minimum.\u00a0 Our earth is experiencing magnetic pole shift.\u00a0 These events are linked.\u00a0 They cause variation in cosmological rays which influences cloud formation.\u00a0\u00a0 As the upper jet streams change the weather becomes unpredictable (weird) followed by global cooling.\u00a0 In that case we need more fossil fuel power stations.\u00a0 The growing zone will be reduced\u00a0 leading to famines.\u00a0 This is the opposite of what we are being told.<\/p>\n<h2>Nice Graphs<\/h2>\n<pre>We use only relevant data sets that are clear, \r\nunderstandable, systematically collected for \r\nat least the last 5 years, and updated at\r\nleast annually.<\/pre>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let us translate the above.\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>We use data sets that are clear: \u00a0 <\/strong><em>we cherry pick.\u00a0 <\/em><strong>Understandable: <\/strong><em>you are dumb we will not bother you with scaling.<\/em> <strong>Systematically collected for at least the last 5 years: <\/strong><em>we chose 5 years out of 4.5 billion years to prove our point.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em><strong>Updated at least annually:\u00a0 <\/strong><em>if we get a heat wave reported this summer we will definitely include it.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>At least five years of Data<\/h2>\n<p>I find that statement amusing.\u00a0 As a scientist (who is familiar with statistics) I would be ashamed to quote five years of data.\u00a0 You might as well produce a plot of last weeks weather.\u00a0 It has about the same predictive power as their graphs.\u00a0 This is like the hockey stick graph which was proven in court to be\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccfsh.org\/climate\/climate-change-hoax-collapses-as-michael-manns-bogus-hockey-stick-graph-defamation-lawsuit-dismissed-by-the-supreme-court-of-british-columbia\/\">fraudulent<\/a>.\u00a0 In light of this we have taken it upon ourselves to change the headings of the plots.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2231\" src=\"https:\/\/www.biblaridion.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/plot2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"378\" height=\"118\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.biblaridion.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/plot2.png 378w, https:\/\/www.biblaridion.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/plot2-300x94.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 378px) 100vw, 378px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Good points<\/h2>\n<p>The &#8220;report&#8221; does make some good points but neglects many others.\u00a0 For example they want to reduce emissions of black carbon (soot), and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).\u00a0 That can be done without shutting down fossil fuels.\u00a0 They also want to reduce methane which is basically &#8220;cow farts&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2234\" src=\"https:\/\/www.biblaridion.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/cow.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"266\" height=\"190\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The agenda is to become vegetarian.\u00a0 Once again this is too simplistic. Cattle often thrive on land that is barely <span data-dobid=\"hdw\">arable.\u00a0 In the not too distant past herds of millions of buffaloes roamed the American plains.\u00a0 Millions of years ago Dinosaurs existed.\u00a0 They also farted &#8211; especially the &#8220;stinko-sore-ass&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-dobid=\"hdw\">The report also says that,<em> &#8220;we must protect and restore Earth&#8217;s ecosystems&#8221;.\u00a0 <\/em><strong>On that we are all agreed.<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Other important issues<\/h2>\n<p>More than 40 years ago when it was not &#8220;sexy&#8221; I studied environmental science alongside chemistry.\u00a0 As a junior researcher I was set the task of correlating tree ring data and temperature (the problem then was acid rain).\u00a0 What this report neglects to mention are plastic contamination of the oceans.\u00a0 The recycling problem. Endocrine mimickers.\u00a0 Antibiotic overuse.\u00a0 We could go on and mention pesticides and GMO foods and herbicides (roundup).\u00a0 No argument from me that we are damaging the environment and need to drastically change our ways.\u00a0\u00a0 We need to be sustainable and we need to conserve energy.\u00a0 All those things must be done but we need not return to the stone age.<\/p>\n<h2>Industrial Revolution<\/h2>\n<p>It was the use of fossil fuels coupled with the industrial revolution that brought about massive improvements in living standards, improvements in longevity and the population explosion. A couple of hundred years ago a global population of\u00a0 7- 8 billion would have been thought impossible.\u00a0 It would have been considered as beyond the carrying capacity of the earth.\u00a0 That is quite an achievement but it has created other problems.<\/p>\n<h2>Exponential growth<\/h2>\n<p>You cannot have exponential growth in a finite system.\u00a0 Therefore we need to completely change the way we do things in the future.\u00a0 We need to be sustainable.\u00a0 The sort of capitalism that we now have with constant &#8220;growth&#8221; and\u00a0 &#8220;off-book exigencies&#8221; (pollution etc) needs to end.\u00a0 The price\u00a0 must reflect all the costs including recycling etc.<\/p>\n<h2>Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>Climate change is happening but it is not man made.\u00a0 Perhaps carbon dioxide results in a small &#8220;forcing&#8221; of the global temperature but it is not the root cause.\u00a0\u00a0 That does not mean that we do not need to make <strong>major changes on how we do things.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The world does not belong to an elite with the rest condemned to slavery and poverty.\u00a0 However, the change that is really needed will not happen because of human nature.\u00a0 As Christians we await the age of renewal which only God can inaugurate.\u00a0 But first comes the time of judgement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More climate doom has emerged in the news.
