This is faux outrage and pure Hegelian Dialectic. Problem<\/strong> (Government using Platforms to censor) Reaction<\/strong> (Outrage…do something!), Solution<\/strong> (Repeal\u00a0 Section 230).<\/p>\n They want to remove section 230 because then they can\u00a0 make the platforms liable for what you say.\u00a0 Twitter and Facebook etc become “publishers”\u00a0 It would make Twitter liable for what you say.\u00a0 <\/strong>What do you think will happen?\u00a0 Twitter would require verification of every user and they would vet every tweet before it got published.\u00a0 <\/strong>They will probably use AI to do this and it will be connected to your social credit score and CBDC.<\/p>\n Let me give you an example.\u00a0 The town square in ancient Greece was the agora. The word \u201cagora\u201d derives from the ancient Greek term ageirein, meaning \u201cto gather together<\/b>\u201d and is attested as early as the eighth century BCE. It is commonly translated as \u201cassembly,\u201d \u201cassembly place,\u201d and \u201cmarket place.\u201d The agora was a crucial component of all Greek villages and towns across the Mediterranean.<\/span><\/span> The apostle Paul gave his famous speech on Mars Hill at the agora in Athens.<\/p>\n Let us pretend that I own the town square and you want to put up your soap box and speak there.\u00a0 I know that if you say something deemed to be “wrong” that I am liable to be punished. So, the first thing I am going to do is make sure that you are of good character. If I deem that you are not of good character you will not be allowed to speak. The second thing I will do is ask to read your speech to see if it is suitable.\u00a0 If I deem it not suitable you will not be allowed to speak.\u00a0 Do you see how that works?\u00a0\u00a0 That is censorship.<\/strong><\/p>\n Now we have the “old” town square which has unlimited free speech.\u00a0 A\u00a0 rabble-rouser enters the square and starts urging people to kill a particular minority.\u00a0 The police are informed and the miscreant is arrested and goes to jail for fermenting hate and violence.<\/p>\n Another slime-ball gets on a soap box and starts telling all sorts of lies about someone to the public. \u00a0 The victim records what is being said, gathers witnesses and takes the slime-ball to court for slander. The slime-ball is forced to publicly apologize and is fined.<\/p>\n A deceiver stands up and spreads disinformation.\u00a0 Most people ignore him and walk past but some stop and listen.\u00a0 Some of the public call him out as a liar and provide evidence to demonstrate that he is lying.\u00a0 He is jeered by the crowd and leaves.<\/p>\n This is how “free speech” is supposed to work.\u00a0 Why should the owner of the town square be punished?<\/p>\n Americans have the right to free speech which is a bulwark against tyranny.\u00a0 People should always be able to speak freely and as with everything else if you abuse your rights there are already laws to deal with it.<\/p>\n What should happen is not the repeal of section 230.\u00a0 What should happen is those twitter executives and FBI agents should go to jail.\u00a0\u00a0 That is what will prevent it happening again and that is what would protect first amendment free speech rights.<\/p>\n Once again let me emphasize that this is a back-door way to censor.\u00a0 It is exactly like the Government using corporations and businesses to mandate vaccines under “health and safety” laws if you want to keep your job.\u00a0 It allowed the Government plausible deniability\u00a0 -well we dropped the mandate but if you private business demands vaccines we can’t do anything about it.<\/p>\n Well our Government stands 100% behind Free Speech but if a private company wants to verify you and vet everything you say they should be allowed to because they could be liable for your speech.\u00a0 Do you see it now?\u00a0 These people are snakes.\u00a0 All of them.<\/strong><\/p>\n GOP Rep SHREDS Twitter Exec.
