I always contended that Mohammad was linked to the Jews and Islam was a Jewish creation. They kept the Jewish obsession with Law (Shariah) and with food (Kosher\/Halal) but demoted Jesus to a \"prophet\" albeit one that plays an eschatological role. This was an attempt to create a unified religion a type of ecumenism and they are still trying to amalgamate everything into a New Age Religion. Note that eastern religions and philosophies are not seen as a threat. That should tell you something. It is Christianity that they hate.
