The End of Everything

This was a very interesting interview.  The fall and destruction of Thebes by Alexander, the destruction of Carthage by Rome (Carthago delenda est ) under Scipio Africanus the Younger, the fall of the 1,000 year Byzantine Empire and Constantinople by Mehmed II and the annihilation of the Aztec Empire by Cortez.  All of them thought that they were invulnerable and all were completely destroyed such that in some cases even the people and their language disappeared.  None of them saw the change coming.
