Full Mad Max

Full Mad Max

Asian refining hubs like South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand have not targeted Australia. Instead, because the Strait of Hormuz closure blocked their own imports of Middle Eastern crude oil, these countries had to protect their domestic populations first. Some implemented export restrictions, dialed back refinery output, or declared force majeure on certain shipments. This created a sudden drop in available fuel on the open market, causing cancelled shipments and spot-shortages in Australia. Over 50 fuel tankers are actively en route to Australia, carrying billions of liters of locked-in supply. Summary: You are seeing reports of an incredibly tight market where Asian countries are hoarding fuel for themselves, but it is an issue of scarcity and high prices, not a geopolitical blockade against Australia. Supplies are still arriving.  I don’t trust it so I went full mad max and hijacked a petrol tanker.
