The Big Dry

The Big Dry

Very good article and video:

Australia 7 Day: Rainfall is low for most, but NSW perhaps has best chances (11 min)

And while we suffer drought in South Australia lake Eyre in the middle of nowhere fills up with all the flood waters from up North and Queensland.  Lake Eyre North is 144km long North-South and 77km wide. The lowest point, in Lake Eyre North, is 15.2 meters below sea level and its deepest flood (20th century) was in 1974 at 5.7 meters. Lake Eyre South is 64km long East-West and 24km wide and has a maximum depth of 3.7 meters. When the lake is completely full, it can take approximately two years to return to a dry state. Smaller or medium floods tend to dry up by the end of the following summer. At least the birds and other wildlife in central SA will have water.

Pray for rain.  Someone told me yesterday that their honey yield had dropped by half.   Not enough rain not enough flowers for the bees.  It is not just the farmers that need rain for sowing the next crops. The reservoirs are very low, Adelaide has a desalination plant but you don’t want to depend on that.  This is the climate change being imposed by the natural cycle.
