Count the number: Gematria 101
I have added a Gematria tag to the website and below is a PDF article (downloadable) that introduces the important concept. Gematria has received a bad press because it has been hijacked by occultists, but they employ English Qabbalah (EQ) which is a relatively recent concept in comparison to Biblical Gematria.
The alchemists are promoting Moses as a Gnostic disciple of Hermes Trismegistus but Moses was no Magician or Sorcerer. He withstood the Gnostic magicians apocryphally referred to as Jannes and Jambres and they were forced to admit that “This is the finger of God” (Exod 8:19)
Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. (2 Timothy 3:8-9)

Is 666 in Geneses 1:1? Yes, in fact there is 3 x 666 in the first verse of the Bible. The occultists either do not understand the meaning or implications, or they twist the meaning. The number is of itself not necessarily an evil number but represents man (created on the sixth day) in his fallen state. We are all 666. In the image above Moses is depicted as a Kabbalist with the eye of Horus on his palm and signalling the Hebrew Letter Shin of the El Shadday blessing. This is Gnostic Nonsense (lolz).
Notably the serpent of Moses ate their serpents and became a rod in his hand. Not only was the serpent a symbol of “forbidden illumination” (in Genesis) but of the ouroborus. The ouroboros entered Western tradition via ancient Egyptian iconography and the Greek magical tradition. It was adopted as a symbol in Gnosticism and Hermeticism and most notably in alchemy. The whole divine figure represents the beginning and the end of time.

First known representation of the ouroboros, on one of the shrines enclosing the sarcophagus of Tutankhamun
It represents the Great Year Cycle of 25,920 years, the precession cycle through all the Zodiac constellations. What is the significance of Moses’ serpent eating the Magicians serpent and then turning back into a rod or staff? It was henceforth called the rod of God. I would suggest that it represents Christ who put the serpent to death. Henceforth, this staff would be used to defeat the enemy, part the Red Sea and bring forth water in the wilderness. I would suggest that the serpent represents Christ who would crush the serpent (Gen 3:15) and would be lifted up like the serpent (Num 21:8, John 12:32). The Hebrew word for serpent carries the same gematria value as the Hebrew word for messiah. So, the Gnostic, alchemist serpent that believed that man could become God was swallowed by the serpent (messiah) that God produced and that became the rod of God in the hand of Moses.
One of the reasons that I wrote this article is because Biblical Gematria belongs to Christians and not to occultists. I am working on an application that will make it easier to search for gematria matches. I also intend to create a Gematria-index page on which I will list all my articles. Here follows my introduction to Gematria:
