The Post Offices are an alternative to the banks and their is a proposal to use them as branches of a “Peoples Bank” with accountabitye to the Government (and the people) rather than a Private Bank. The Commonwealth Bank was founded by the Australian government in 1911 and backed by a government guarantee. It operated as a public institution until it was fully privatised through a stock market float between 1991 and 1996. Since then it has been involved in scandal after scandal.
Now they are closing the Post Offices after railroading the previous CEO Christine Holdgate who made the Post Office profitable and replacing her with banker tools and spivs. They are deliberately running the Post Office into the ground while paying themselves fat cat salaries.
New Zealand created a government-owned “people’s bank” that operated through the post office network, and it has actually done this twice in its history.
Noticed your Post Office is now just an empty shell? Soon it won’t be there at all..

I have got to admit that I am impressed that they are making headway. Very tenacious. They are closing my local Common Wealth Bank branch and they gave me a leaflet informing me that I could use the local Post Office for withdrawals and payments. And the irony is exquisite that the Government and Banks railroaded Christine Holgate and replaced her and now her replacement is advocating for the same changes (lolz).
