Blue Lava Erupts In Indonesia’s Kawah Ijen volcano
Blue lava, often seen at Indonesia’s Kawah Ijen volcano, is actually an optical phenomenon caused by the combustion of sulfur, which burns with an electric-blue flame when it comes into contact with hot air. This effect occurs at temperatures above 360 °C (680 °F) and is visible primarily at night, giving the illusion of blue lava flowing down the volcano.
