I have to disagree with your take on China. I know that there is a lot of propaganda and it is difficult to get a balanced view but the property market in China is different. Houses are purchased when complete families pool their resources and the land is leased from the government not owned. The land is either owned by the state or by rural collectives. Instead, private property owners hold long-term land-use rights, which function similarly to a leasehold interest. Moreover, mortgages in major urban hubs, often exceeding 30x annual income. Many young, highly educated youngsters in China have just given up as they have no work and the property market is going underwater wiping out lifetime gains.
